New Listserv Site UP Please Read Carefully as Current YahooGroups Service is Ending This Week

Dear List Members:

As we have been writing for several months, we have been developing a new
customized website to host the Jobs & Scholarships Announcement Forums. The
site has been finished and is up and running starting as of September 6th,
together  with our new website which you can see at
www.conflicttransformation.org/index.asp

Please read this email carefully as the new site will be quite different
from the existing service.  You may also read all of the necessary
information about the new forums, subscription costs and how to sign up at
our new website, www.conflicttransformation.org/index.asp

First, posting announcements to the existing lists based at yahoo groups
will end this week. If you wish to sign up for the new announcement forums
you must sign up via our website www.conflicttransformation.org/index.asp.
We will send out this announcement several additional times on the lists but
the yahoogroups posting service will end and at the end of the week the
lists will be terminated.

NEW REGIONAL FORUM FORMAT:

On our new site there are three main forums (lists): Conflictjobs,
Conflictscholarships and Dcevents. The conflictjobs and conflictscholarships
forums are now divided into regional forums, which cover specific
geographical areas (such as Conflictjobs-Nis, Conflictjobs-Africa). A
complete list of regional forums will be provided as you register. The
biggest change here is there will no longer be an independent nisjobs or
ceejobs list; instead they are now regional forums within conflictjobs.


DONATIONS REQUIRED FOR SUBSCRIPTIONS:

On the new site, donations are required for obtaining a subscription. For
more information on the rates visit the new website.  Subscriptions will be
divided into several categories, including if you are from a TIER I or TIER
II country, if you're signing up for an organizational, professional or
student subscription and if you would like to subscribe for a period of six
months or one year. All of these terms and categories are explained on the
website. RESIDENTS OF DESIGNATED INTERNATIONAL REGIONS MAY QUALIFY FOR A
FREE SUBSCRIPTION UPON APPROVAL FROM THE FORUM ADMINISTRATOR.  This will be
explained during the registration process. Once you're registered you may
sign up for as many regional forums as you would like.

PLEASE NOTE IF YOU HAVE GIVEN A DONATION TO ACT IN THE PAST YEAR, PLEASE
SEND ME A NOTE AS THERE IS A SPECIAL PROCESS FOR PREVIOUS DONORS.

POSTING:

On the new site, posting will remain free of charge and to post you do not
need to have a subscription. Anyone can post appropriate announcements
directly in one of two ways. First, to post directly via the web at or send
the announcement to me at [email protected]

NEW FEATURES:

Our new site also has several features that should benefit subscribers.
First, you can login and manage your subscription at anytime once your
subscription is activated at www.actforums.org You can also change your
password, your email address or the format of subscription for each regional
forum (web, digest or individual messages). In addition you can put your
subscription on hold if you're away on vacation.  Each regional forum
announcement list also will have its own archives, which you can search by
logging in (you do need to be subscribed to a particular regional forum to
read its archives).

In addition to these features, you will find on the forums announcement site
a place to have your password emailed to you if you forget it.

This is a brief summary of the news forums site.  If you have any questions
or if you want to sign up first I would encourage you to visit our new
website and read about the forum announcement lists. The information there
should answer most of your questions and explain the registration process.

Funds raised from the new lists site will be used to cover the costs of
developing and maintaining the site (in the future we hope to add more
features to make the forums more useful) and to support ACT programming. We
