Java applets and robots that edit or type numbers

Hi all.

Several months ago ToonTalk was enhanced so that you can use the 
keyboard to create numbers where intermediate states are not proper 
numbers.

E.g.

To create -1 from 1 you can do the following:

[1] -- initial number
[] -- after rubout
[-] -- after typing -
[-1] -- after typing 1

The problem is that if you train a robot to do so then the corresponding 
Java applet crashes (since '-' isn't a proper number). Fixing this may 
take several hours or a whole day. Probably won't have time to work on 
this until next week.

To avoid this problem don't train robots to ever have invalid 
intermediate states. E.g. in this case just

[1] -- initial number
[1-] -- after typing -

Both ToonTalk and the Java applets will interpret this as -1.
