Hi all. On ftp://weblabs.eu.com/ToonTalk/Playground/ you'll find Playground2001X.zip and PlaygroundBookX.zip which are the old Playground files in XML and all the active documentation removed. E.g. the speaking and translating tools. (I also fixed the score keeper in the Pong game.) Just unzip them to My Documents\ToonTalk. I wrote a little program inside of ToonTalk that doesn't save a flipped picture on the back of another picture if it has any of these text pads on it (where \n means new line): "I remove a\nspace, if I'm\nselected and\nyou type space", "I change\ntext to\nspeech", "Speech\nmechanism", "I speak\nthe text\nwhen you\npoint to\nme and press\nthe spacebar", "I remove a\nspace, if I you\npoint to me\nand type a space" (If I forgot one let me know.) The ToonTalk files typically shrank by a factor of 4. They load much faster, using notebooks is faster (though still a bit slow the first time you flip to a page), and some programs run many times faster - e.g. the Space Behaviours game. And things built with Playground gadgets are lean and fast as well. In the Playground City it found over 12,000 things not to save (each of which consisted of several robots, boxes, and pictures). The interface to this ability to clean up old Playground files is a bit awkward so maybe the best plan is if people have files they want cleaned they send them to me.
