I just had a conversation with the teacher I'm collaborating with and it seems the mother of one of the kid's I'm working with asked the school if they are sure that our web site is "secure". As I understand it the issue is that the kids are messaging other WebLabs kids but are we sure some non-kid and non-project member couldn't be communicating with them. I said how we monitor things but did say it would be better if they system automatically notified us when a new user is created. Alternatively us researchers could have a password that is needed to access the register new user page. The teacher was worried and I think we are being a bit sloppy given the extent to which parents are worried about such things.
