Please don't include junk like background images.  You have been

rpm -e emacspeak

Fedora Core 3 for some unfathomable reason includes an incredibly
outdated version of Emacspeak that replaces the working regexp-opt.el
of Emacs-21.3 with an utterly outdated and broken version.

If you actually wanted to use Emacspeak seriously, you certainly don't
want this antique version, so removing it should not cause you
headaches.

Sorry, we just detected this idiocy a few days ago.  Our next release
of AUCTeX will likely contain a workaround so that people don't end up
pointing their fingers at us.

But I guess that there is nothing much to add here, anyway.  As I
said, we tracked this down and discussed it earlier already.
