Well, I can.  When international characters are in the same line, in
particular before the formulas.

preview-latex is supposed to get along fine with such characters by
now.  Please post the contents of the run buffer you get with C-c
C-l.  You might need to post it as an attachment so that prospective
weird bytes don't get lost in the mail.
