Do you mean the run buffer? There is no ^, so no ^M.

No, I don't mean the run buffer (though it is also right for the run
buffer), I do mean the normal document buffer where I want to see the
previews. Doing "Generate previews for document" on circ.tex creates all
previews where and how I want it. The run buffer shows all special
characters correctly. (the others described above)
I made some screenshots.
