However, the search capabilities on search.gmane.org are very limited,
so in case I am searching for older messages and need more
flexibility, I use rain.gmane.org instead.  Hopefully this will become
the regular search soon.

Hm, Emacs has gmane.emacs.cvs for commit notifications (emacs-commit
mailing list) and gmane.emacs.diffs for commits with diffs
(emacs-diffs mailing list).  This doesn't seem to be handled uniformly
across the lists on Gmane.  Personally I like your proposal better.

We could make the distinction more clear with descriptions like
"AUCTeX CVS commit notifications" for gmane.emacs.auctex.commits and
"AUCTeX CVS commit messages with diffs" for gmane.emacs.auctex.cvs.


BTW, your message I got via email had an MFT header directing to the
AUCTeX mailing list only.  As this was a crosspost to the AUCTeX and
preview-latex-devel lists, this does not seem to be appropriate.  Or
did I get something wrong?
