BBDB no longer works with Mu4e

Dear list members,

I have been using bbdb for a long time, but upon setting up a new 
computer and reinstalling bbdb and mu4e I notice that they no 
longer work together. I installed bbdb latest and mu4e 1.6.

Apparently mu4e has changed its message view to depend upon gnus 
*Article* view.

What happens is that it corrupts the message view to a source view 
of message and then gives an error "No buffer named *mu4e-view*"

I would be willing to spend some time on this, but perhaps someone 
has already solved this problem? Or at least some insights on 
where I should get started would be appreciated.
