"make" failure for emacs-bidi-0.9.1.tar.gz

After unpacking the above file, I followed these instructions:

$ cd emacs-bidi
  $ ./configure
  $ make

This is what happened:

sudo make

Can anybody help?  I am running PC-BSD and I suspect I need to do
something about how it implements x windows, but don't know what or
how.
