I see this as a Linux distribution issue. The major distributions (Ubuntu,
Fedora, Debian) default to Wayland in their newest versions, and are in the
process of dropping the X11 session altogether. On these distributions I
think it would make sense to make the PGTK version the default. On the
other hand, on distros like Mint and other distros using X11 window
managers, the PGTK version should not be offered by default, or preferably
not at all.

This is of course up to the distro makers to decide, and we can only give
recommendations.
