Thanks!   I had started on a patch for that but you beat me to it. :)

For the need to create a semanticdb directory, I made a small change to 
the order of disabling the saving of databases and initializing semantic 
for cedet-utest.el which might solve the previous problem.   I just 
don't know why it only showed up with the EDE change.
