Re: [cedet-semantic] semantic + speedbar automatically recenter buffers

I may have a clue as to the origin of the issue.
At least I can switch it off for me:

speedbar has a variable 'speedbar-update-flag'

If this variable is set to 't' *AND* (semantic-mode 1) is part of
init.el then the issue occurs.

'speedbar-update-flag' is set to 't' by default, that's why I
encountered the issue.
I can live without automatic updating of speedbar - or would there be
any problem if one sets 'speedbar-update-flag' to 'nil'?
In any way, it is strange, that there is this destructive interference
between semantic and speedbar w.r.t. this variable.

Hi David,

I don't quite understand the latter statement. I did some more homework
on that:

1) when I do

bzr checkout bzr://cedet.bzr.sourceforge.net/bzrroot/cedet/code/trunk cedet

the directory structure I get under cedet contains

./lisp/cedet/ede/speedbar.elc
./lisp/cedet/ede/speedbar.el
./lisp/eieio/eieio-speedbar.el
./lisp/eieio/eieio-speedbar.elc

so it *is* part of CEDET's bzr repo

2) If I keep the root/load path settings as posted for my minimal
init.el file in order to use the cedet version from bazar, however I
simultaneously move the preceding speedbar files listed, away from
cedet's bazar tree, then emacs will start with error

Warning (initialization): An error occurred while loading
`/home/xxxxxx/.emacs.d/init.el':
File error: Cannot open load file, ede/speedbar

so it uses speedbar from CEDET's bzr repo and not the one shipped with emacs
(b.t.w. this answers my own question about which speedbar is used ;) )

3) Finally, and as a side remark, if I do a 'diff -wc' between
speedbar.el as shipped with my current emacs 24.3 and the one from
cedet's trunk, they differ. I don't know about the most recent emacs
24.4, but anyway, as I said, it's not emacs's speedbar which is used.
