Newbie question: stopping methods buffer from auto-expanding

I'm using ECB on Windows; Emacs 22.1, ECB 2.32. I have a minor annoyance that I can't seem to get rid of. When I'm doing serious editing on a Python file, I usually like to have all classes in the methods buffer collapsed except the one I'm working in. I start with "collapse all completely", which works, but as soon as I make a change to the code, even typing a character, the tree expands completely (well, except for Imports and Variables). I've played a bit with the customization items for the buffer with no success. Any hints?
