It would still be a useful tool for transition from the Customize
form based interface to Lisp, as you would not have to look up every
docstring in order to find what, if any, function you need to call to
get the desired effect.

Of course, for it to be useful for anything (apart from fooling
'inhibit-startup-echo-area-message'), it must *not* set
'custom-saved'.
