efs configuration through a proxy/firewall

Hi,

I'm attempting to get xemacs' package manager, and thus efs, to
operate through our company's firewall. Can someone please help me?

Here's where I'm at: I've acquired ftp proxy privileges by the graces
of the security people at my company. I can interactively ftp to
xemacs.org via our FTP proxy using an xterm window and the system
"ftp" client just fine. I'm on a Sun Ultra 10 using SunOS 5.8
(Solaris).

Here's how I connect through my proxy. The quotes enclose text
I enter and are not part of the actual typed text.

I've attempted to setup efs for this proxy
by configuring the efs gateway as a "raptor" gateway
as well as specifying other parameters.

After Tools/Packages/Add Download Site/xemacs.org, I
/Tools/Packages/UpdatePackageIndex. At that point xemacs
hangs. If I C-g and switch to the *ftp...* buffer all
I see is 

  open ftp.xemacs.org

xemacs should not issue this command in raptor mode since the ftp host
is specified as part of the startup exchange.

I'm at a loss to see how to go further. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.
