So lmcompile-do-highlight in the code above gets never called, right? The functionality which lmcompile-do-highlight provided was to highlight the respective lines in the buffers which are referred to by the errors in the compilation window. Without lmcompile-do-highlight this is not done automatically, even not in recent Emacsens. Did I misunderstood you?
