This is the typical response if no tracks were added.

An Emms setup can be as simply as this (just an example):

     (emms-all)
     (setq emms-player-list '(emms-player-vlc)
           emms-info-functions '(emms-info-native))

What do you have?

We've all been playing collections of tens of thousands songs for many
years now with Emms; no reason why you shouldn't be able to as well.
