Do you think this was a fluke, or have GMail actually changed something
recently?

Anyone else reading GMail from Gnus?

Reason I ask, is that my new job is using GMail, unfortunately.  I
haven't gotten around to trying to set it up yet, but I do hope to at
some point.  If anyone has any recent tips/pointers, I would welcome
those as well.
