In this time of accelerated assimilation, I should hope explicit mention
of those steps would be as unnecessary as reminding programmers they
need to install git before using it.  Yes, it should be obvious to any
agentic cli user that it run in a pwd of the emacs source repository.  I
have however witnessed Claude Code do amazing things even without this
initial step.  Its baked-in world knowledge is truly breathtaking.
