I think the question was just "I'm totally lost, please give me some
background.".

This is this background.  All good.

Yes, it's sometimes really hard to guess what kind of information is
wished for.  And this costs time which I would rather invest in
answering and helping.  Personally I had no problems with Gottfried's
questions.
