Somewhat reliable multimedia management for Emacs?

Hi all,
I am sorry if this question is unacceptable here. I am just a poor soul
lost in the world of Emacs, please forgive and point me to an
appropriate place instead.

I am looking for a way to manage, and especially listen to my local
music collection. I know EMMS exists but I have some issues with it
which I cannot fix no matter how hard I try.
1. I cannot add my music collection to EMMS
M-x emms-add-directory-tree
~/Muzyka
Emacs responds
"No first track"
2. If I play a file, I cannot control its volume separately from
everything else
Even though I cannot import my whole collection, I can play single
files. That's good enough, I suppose but I am not able to change the
volume of just the music. I have to change the volume of the whole
operating system, which is an unacceptable tradeoff for me as I am a
blind user of Emacs, thus I need the separate control of the volume.

Is there any hope for me in the Emacs multimedia management and playback space?
