Yes, of course I should have done this.  Indeed everything
works fine.  So I will have to do a little (a lot) of work in
my initialization to perhaps bisect and find the problem.

The problem is definitely with me!  I will leave it at that
and will only post further if I discover anything that may be
of more general interest.
