Docview question

Using AucTex, I often view my output (dvi file) in a docview buffer in a
separate window. Changing between tex/dvi windows works well. Sometimes
however I get the message

DocView: process pdf->svg changed status to killed.
--8<---------------cut here---------------end--------------->8---

I am at a loss to understand the meaning of this message, particularly
since (1) there is no error apparently (2) I am generating a dvi not pdf
file (3) the message only appears "now and again", and on those
occasions I not aware of doing anything differently. Can someone
enlighten me?
