My personal goal for 2.4.0 is to get project by attending to
outstanding patches and getting it more current (ideally up to JDK
1.6).  Len and I have committed and tested contributed patches that
are getting us there.

A secondary goal is to get all of my outstanding changes in so it's
easier for me as a maintainer to add others' changes without having to
deal with two code bases.

After my changes are integrated, take a look at the new code
functionality.  I think we'll be in a much better place at that point.
