For maven (maven2) I've been using the code as attached. 
Note, there is a Mojo for maven-emacs-plugin (mvn emacs:jdee)
that goes with the jde-maven2.el
it decodes the pom, and detects when changes have been made,
and automatically reparses to create a new prj.el with all the right paths.
