Re: jde doesn't like cedet 1.0pre3

(setq jde-check-version-flag nil) in your .emacs.

Alternatively, the file cedet-1.0pre3/common/cedet.el contains the line:

(defconst cedet-version "1.0pre3"
  "Current version of CEDET.")

right near the top. Just remove the "pre3".
