If you use CVS Emacs you need to use the current CEDET from CVS too. There's a problem with the way idle timers work in Emacs 22. See http://article.gmane.org/gmane.emacs.code-browser/1800/ This may not solve your current problem but you'll run into the issue of emacs taking up 100% cpu eventually with your current setup.
