I see something similar to this occasionally. In my case, I'm
single-stepping thru some code and at some random point, the "next"
operation never returns. That is, the prompt does not display in the jdb
buffer. Neither jdb or my application respond to input. However, emacs
remains operational. If I kill the jdb process outside of emacs and
restart the debugging session, sometimes it works, sometimes it hangs in a
different location.

This seems to happen when emacs has been running for a long time. I never
see the problem when I'm debugging with a recently launched emacs.

I've observed these symptoms in both emacs 21 and 22.

Subject: jdb "application not stopped" error

emacs-version on WinXP: "GNU Emacs 21.3.1 (i386-mingw-nt5.1.2600) JDE
2.3.5.1 jdk1.6.0

In jde-jdb, I randomly get "Application foo not stopped" when trying to
get things like step in/step over to happen thru jde-debug-step-over/
jde-debug-step-into etc. The application of course *is* stopped and I can
issue jdb commands "by hand" in the buffer actually running jdb but jde
does not think so. Any ideas?
