State of JDEE

Hi,

I am relatively new (2 months) to both emacs and jdee (was a user of
VI for 5 years+), I would like to say thanks to all the work that have
been put into JDEE, the more I use it, the more i appreciate the work
that are done on JDEE.

After fiddling with JDEE, I came across this wonder plugin called
jde-usages (I assume 99% of the users here use this?), the caller-tree
function is really fast and beats the crap out of the original xrefdb
version in jdee. And from the mailing list, I have just realized that
the cvs version of jde-usages can be used to speed up code completion
as well! I have done some minimal testing to if and it really does
speed things up a lot.

I have been hearing rumours that jdee is dead, the only thing that
made me believe against it is the amount of activity found in the
mailing list. But from what I can see from the mailing list, the last
check in is 2 years ago! I have seen more and more great work done
(especially by Suraj) and have to be put on emacswiki (hence made it
not really apparent to new users), because it can't get integrated
into the jdee tree.

I have read that there are efforts to move jdee to sourceforge last
year, but the discussion wasn't conclusive. I hope that if the
maintainer (Paul) of jdee have not got enough time to spend on
maintaining jdee anymore, at least give cvs/svn access to Suraj and a
couple of other active participants here. The last thing I want to see
is a fork of jdee.

Sorry if any of these queries have already been answered or have been
debated to death, I am the only one using jdee in my company, against
all eclipse zealots and hopefully I do not have to give up on it just
because jdee could not catch up anymore.
