Emacs 22 has been released since june and is stable as it's going to get (which
is pretty good in my book). 

If it doesn't interact well with JDEE that's unfortunate, but probably because
there has not been a JDE release for a while. The incompatibility problems are
probably JDE issues. When Emacs 21 was released, JDE had worked well with it
for, well, at least a year. 

Paul has offered his willingness for others to take over the JDE mantle; at
the moment patches for failures are coming in through this list, but unless
some on offers to acts to apply the patches and do a release periodically,
they will stop coming and are of limited use. 

I would be sad to see JDE atrophy as I wrote some of the code for it
(including the first version of jde-import-kill-extra-imports if memory serves
me well). The discussion has to be, who is willing to take over; not which
version of Emacs it should work with.
