I can't reproduce this with either XEmacs 21.4.17 (and the standard
0.8.1 package) or GNU Emacs CVS.  I am afraid that this effect would
probably be dependent on more details, like whether some _other_
images are partially scrolled off the screen or something.

If you do a screen shot of just the XEmacs window, load it into gimp,
convert it to indexed without dithering and a palette of 16 colors,
then save as PNG, you usually get a rather small file that can
tolerable be posted to the list.  Alternatively, put the screenshot
online somewhere.

Only in that manner there might be a chance to get the window
configuration "just so", so that one might reproduce the problem more
reliably.
