which is quite later.

It works here, and I don't know what might be wrong at your site.
Maybe a line ending problem?  This could occur if you converted either
Perl script or latex/preview.dtx to a form that appears not "the same"
to Perl.

When all else fails, the prebuilt documentation should work fine, I
believe.
