Yes, that will probably be the trend forward.  I don't disagree with
that.  Nor do I dislike that trend.

What I meant to say, was that I have too much legacy stuff in place
that uses DTDs, and that uses external entities for modularization,
and for inserting generated text, that I'm not about to throw
overboard, just to be able to use a new XML mode for Emacs.

So rather than throw everything overboard at once, I would like to be
able to phase in schemas gradually.  That means that I would like to
see a Relax NG schema savvy PSGML, rather than replace it with a brand
new Emacs mode.

There are two problems with replacement:
 - PSGML and its behaviour is embedded in my fingers
 - nXML doesn't support DTDs, which means I'm left with the problem of
   which Emacs mode to choose, when editing new documents with
   schemas, and old documents with DOCTYPE declarations.  (I can select
   none by default and have <!-- xml --> or <!-- nxml --> in the first
   line.  But that seems fragile)
