I would like to know how to disable or - preferably - fix semantic when in python-mode. It generally works okay; I know the engine is running in the background - even though I have no means to use autocomplete as it never finds the symbols (but perhaps completion is best left until later. For now it is not relevant to this thread). I noticed today when I was running through a large python test source file when I put the cursor anywhere in this function emacs freezes/is sticky for 2/3 seconds. It is very annoying and it only seems to happen in this large function. I have tried running putting this in my .emacs file: (remove-hook *) for all functions called on python mode - confirmed by viewing the value of the variable python-hook - just like suggested by Eric in: http://sourceforge.net/p/cedet/mailman/message/25629503/. However, this does not work. Even if those functions are not called when a python file loads semantic kicks in. So, 1. how to disable semantic for all python files? Something better than running (semantic-mode) [[ which does not work anyway ]]. 2. OR, how to fix the issue where emacs sticks for 2/3 seconds when I move the cursor to a large function. 3. And, as a bonus - where to find information about what I can use a frontend equivalent to what I do for c++ with ia-complete-symbol-menu. Cheers. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Dive into the World of Parallel Programming The Go Parallel Website, sponsored by Intel and developed in partnership with Slashdot Media, is your hub for all things parallel software development, from weekly thought leadership blogs to news, videos, case studies, tutorials and more.
