Thanks for spot-on debug, yes looks like that was the problem.

I had the following setting in my init file
(setq dired-listing-switches "-hltFGH --time-style=long-iso
--group-directories-first -*-color=auto*")

and that conflicts with tramp's --color=never requirement.

i removed it and made it following
(setq dired-listing-switches "-hltFGH --time-style=long-iso
--group-directories-first")

and it works fine now !!!
