Thanks for the feedback. I've pushed a slightly modified version of the
patch to the repositories. Will appear on GNU ELPA later this month, as
Tramp 2.7.2.1.

It will also be in Emacs 30.2. For Emacs 30.1 it is too late; it is in
final pretest.
