Not necessarily a fault but w3m-load.elc and w3m-load.el(.gz) should have been installed if you did a normal installation, i.e.: $ autoconf; ./configure [options...]; make; make install See also: <https://emacs-w3m.github.io/#configuration> Though the file contains mainly autoload things and emacs-w3m will work without it, the `emacs-w3m-git-revision' constant (of which the value will be included in a bug report) in it will make it easy to know what version of emacs-w3m a user uses.
