Doubt about project package

Hi
I am trying to integrate more emacs with my job.
I work in mechanical projects, and each one of them has a folder in the com=
pany's internal network.
Till now, I have bookmarked main folders of my projects, so I can go fast t=
o the folder I need, and then use Dired.
But I am intrigued some time ago by "Project" package.
Would it allow to make immediate searches for files at different levels?
Is it possible and advisable to use it in shared folders of an internal net=
work? Maybe instead to add a word to be recognized as a project, I could us=
e the name of a folder that always exists in every main project?
Is it "Project" useful just for plain text files, or could I search for CAD=
files and open them with an external software?
