Due to a critical problem in parsing shy groups in regular
expressions, The XEmacs Team is withdrawing Release 21.4.16.  The
defect in question can lead to infinite loops and/or unexplained
crashes in XEmacs.  See, for example:

http://list-archive.xemacs.org/xemacs-beta/200502/msg00076.html .

The XEmacs 21.4.16 tarballs will be removed from their current
location at ftp://ftp.xemacs.org/pub/xemacs/xemacs-21.4, effective
immediately.

XEmacs 21.4.17 will be released on February 6, 2005.

If, for some reason, you must run XEmacs 21.4.16, please apply the
patch posted in
http://list-archive.xemacs.org/xemacs-patches/200501/msg00157.html ,
then rebuild and reinstall XEmacs.
