So if I understand correctly, it is as follows,


    -  running Xemacs in X11 gnuclient will use X11. 

    - Running xemacs -nw (tty) gnuclient -nw will also use tty.

    - What does not work is running Xemacs X11 and then gnuclient
      -nw does do anything.

So in practise I should kill my Xemacs X11 session start a tty session
and then run gnusclient -nw. If this is correct and I have to kill my X11
Xemacs, I might use GNU emacs, since it has  X11 and has better BIDI
support.

   > When editing bidi text in mlterm, I use the following:

   > (set-specifier (glyph-image continuation-glyph) [string :data ""] nil '(tty)
   >                'prepend)

   > This prevents the trailing backslash interrupting the paragraph bidi context
   > and makes paragraphs more readable.
