My rationale was this: since texinfo 5 is incompatible with texinfo 4, and since XEmacs 21.5 (and some of the packages) have moved to texinfo 5, and many (most?) distros (including cygwin) ship texinfo 5, I decided to bite the bullet and move to texinfo 5. I think you should build your own version of texinfo 5 and release the XEmacs 21.4 built against texinfo 5. That way, when slackware updates to texinfo 5, you will be all set. - Vin
