I agree. But why should the native build need to be broken in order to
for the cygwin builds to work? Proper #ifdefs should handle the
different environments where needed. And the native build uses nmake
and not make so it is a separate build system with its pros and
cons. 

So in the best of worlds we ought to build regularly (or ideally have
buildbot slaves for) the three (or four) windows environments in order
to keep things stable.
