Schitzoid behavior on a Cygwin Xemacs

I have a Win32-Native build, but I do my real work in the Cygwin environment with Cygwin-Xemacs. In several situations - notably if I use a menu command - Xemacs pops up a widget for a file-name. Regrettably, it exposes the Windows file-system instead of the Cygwin mounts structure. I wouldn't mind a *Nix-style widget (gtk / lesstif / whatever ) that showed me the files as seen by the Cygwin tools, although I could live without widgets entirely. Please advise, at least, how to turn off the darn'd widgets and use the mini-buffer. -- David A.
