Works for me.  Do you have a /usr/share/info/dir file?  If so, what is
in it?

I see you also have /usr/info and /usr/local/info.  Is there anything
in them?  If so, does it work?  How about the dir files?

What is the value of the variable `Info-auto-generate-directory'?  If
you set that to 'always, things will be slower, but should work.

I suggest that you post to xemacs-beta with the answers, as this is
something that "should" work.
