Depends on what you mean by that.  XEmacs for X definitely builds and
runs.  However, if you mean using the FreeBSD port, possibly it will
not build; Mac OS X is not FreeBSD, and the FreeBSD port may have
configuration switches etc that are incompatible with Mac OS X.

Fink and maybe DarwinPorts provide binary packages, and both source
packages, as well as the XEmacs source distributions, build without
problem on all versions of Mac OS X I have used (Jaguar and Panther;
I'll be getting Tiger fairly soon).  Fink and DarwinPorts (like
FreeBSD packages) take care of dependencies (eg, image and sound
libraries are automatically built if you don't have them already).

I don't mean to deprecate the FreeBSD ports distribution, just to
mention alteratives.  As long as I'm here, I will say that NetBSD
pkgsrc is another distribution which is quite portable, although I
haven't used it for three years on Mac OS X.  Gentoo's Portage should
probably be avoided for now, as the Mac-oriented developers seem to be
fascinated by the possibility of replacing parts of Mac OS X with
Gentoo ports, and I really don't think that's a good idea, especially
if you're still on Panther.
