ROTFL !! I couldn't have expressed this better myself :-)

I know exactly what you're talking about. Believe it or not, Quail *is* my
daily input method. After spending years screaming and wanting to fix it
without finding the time, I ended up getting used to its brokeneness. Now it's
almost instinctively that I turn off my input method before undo'ing
operations, switching across buffers, spelling words and so on...

It's amazing how humans can adapt to hostile environments, which is the exact
contrary of what we call intelligence by the way.
