Need help with accents

Hi,

Since I have upgraded to [version 21.4; April 2001] (I was using a
very old version before). I'm in trouble with accents. For example,
while copy/past from other application, I get things like:


Etant donn%/1iso8859-15 les
%/1iso8859-15v%/1iso8859-15nements %/1iso8859-15
venir...

I just have to remove the string %/1iso8859-15 to get the good
message:

Etant donn les vnements  venir...

but it's quite disturbing... 

When I copy/past from xemacs to some other application, character with
accents are just forgoten... 

It seams to me that it's a problem of mule which uses iso88. I have
tried to make xemacs user iso8859-15: 

(set-face-font 'default
'"-*-courier-medium-r-*-*-*-120-*-*-*-*-iso8859-15")

but it does not change anything... 

Any solution? event an idear is wellcome

PS: distrib: RH7.3 standard installation (as far as xemacs is
concerned).

PS2: I'm using xemacs with vm for emails... and this problem is making
me creasy...
