Vin, SPACE characters in URLs need to be encoded to get handled
reliably by e-mail archiving software (like mhonarc), web browsers,
etc.

My preference with be to replace these spaces with dashes or underscores.

Sabine, the "Ausgef=FCrht in:" or "Start in:" property of Windows
shortcuts does not have any agreed upon standards to follow, AFAIK.

In your example you use values that only make sense for German region
settings.

A good default value would be %HOME% but that requires the user to set it.

Initializing it to the correct regional setting for "...\My Documents"
does not seem easily possible, since there isn't even an Environment
variable for that.

Sensible defaults could be
"%USERPROFILE%"
or
"%HOMEDRIVE%%HOMEPATH%"
