Re: gnuserver and client for the Win9x version

I have been using some gnuclientw and gnuserv executable I got from
somewhere a few years ago. They seem to work.  It is pain to keep
migrating them along with every new XEmacs version, so I am glad to hear
that they are being incorporated into the distribution.
 
I tried winclient, and it seems to work.  I noticed the following
behavior, however, and your ideas are welcome.  When I execute winclient
from a cygwin window it loads the site-start.el and all my
customizations. When I execute it by clicking on a shortcut, it just
opens a vanilla window and does not load site-start.  With my old
gnuclientw, clicking on the shortcut loads the site-start.
The only thing I can think of is that my .bashrc defines a bunch of
variables under cygwin that may make a difference for winclient.  What
do you think?
 
 
Also, I did not see a gnuserv executable next to the gnuclient.  What is
the story there?  Is there any documentation on how the newer winclient
is replacing old gnuserv/gnuclient?

XEmacs-21.4.xx comes with i586-pc-win32\winclient.exe
 
Try that and report back, please!
